CARNIVORE: QUICKPLAY RULES

A herd stands in the middle of the table. Your pack is in one corner, your rival's in another, and there is not enough meat here for both of you.

CARNIVORE is a tabletop skirmish game about prehistoric predators competing over limited food. You control a single species. Model counts are low and every animal is dangerous. Positioning, facing and timing decide more than the dice do, and you win by eating more than your rival rather than by wiping them out.

Quickplay is the fastest way in. It covers the rules every dinosaur shares, which is enough to run a complete hunt from setup to the last bite. Two players, one herd, about forty minutes.

The herbivores are not objectives sitting still. They watch their front arc, bolt when they catch sight of you, and are perfectly capable of turning and hurting you if you come at them badly. A wounded animal can lose its nerve and run. A rival can stroll up and eat the kill you just made.

What you need

• Ten-sided dice, a tape measure, a 2' x 2' surface, and some terrain
• Dinosaurs. Official miniatures if you have them, toys if you don't. The rules do not care.

Play it tonight. When you want your dinosaurs to bite, grapple, bellow and hold their ground, the full rulebook opens up twelve species, eleven scenarios, and the EXTINCTION campaign, where every loss is permanent.
