This is the downloadable PDF rulebook for CARNIVORE, a tabletop miniatures skirmish game set in the aftermath of an extinction-level event, when food has grown scarce and predators are forced into direct competition. Each player commands a single species of carnivorous dinosaur, leading a small, powerful pack onto a battlefield where rival predators and a herd of instinct-driven herbivores all converge on the same dwindling supply of meat.
This is a low-model-count game built around decisions rather than volume — a single misstep can expose a flank, and securing a carcass often matters more than wounding a rival. The game uses a compact D10 system: players roll a ten-sided die against a relevant stat to fight, guard, or hold their nerve, with margins of success driving severity and retaliation. Prey are governed by their own instinct rules and react to threat in species-appropriate ways, so the battlefield is never static.
The book includes the complete core rules, individual stat profiles ("Genus Slates") for a roster of predator and prey species including Tyrannosaurus rex, Spinosaurus, Allosaurus, Velociraptor, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus and more, a set of standalone scenarios, a full campaign mode, and a gallery showcasing the painted miniatures. Dinosaurs and dice love it so far
Superb ruleset and perfect if you like Dinosaurs! Wonderfully easy to navigate and use in game.
Wonderful game, lovely rulebook.
It'd be nice if it were possible to see a few reports from the developers, just to make sure a few rules are being interpreted right, especially around prey responses as the demo conflicts a bit with the rulebook in profiles and such, but still. But the campaign is snappy, the actual combat is simple and scales well either going off ot use the bathroom or having the other person roll for more participation. Perfect to run a few games int he time it usually takes to run another game. Looking forward to expansions, new campaigns and dinos especially if it's planned.
Great quality rulebook (If a bit too high resolution).
The final book is going to be great! But the same colorful and abundant artwork that will make the physical book great, make printing the pdf difficult. I would have preferred a less graphic intensive version of the rules for the PDF, but overall, I've got no complaints and can't wait to get some of my newly printed dino's on the table!
