A great starter set that introduced me to the basics of the game in an easy to understand format. My neighbor and I had lots of laughs whenever someone who had no business trying to climb without a ladder failed the skill check roll every single time. The dice was as unforgiving as the creeping death. Quick set up and breakdown facilitates quick sessions with family and friends. I am a new convert to this game and can't wait to share it with everyone I know!

I've been playing 1490 Doom since November of 2024, and wargaming since 1989. 1490 Doom one of my favorite games. This is one of the best starter sets I've ever picked up. I had an incorrect piece in mine and the team at Buer Games immediately fixed the issue for me with no hassle at all. Definitely some of the best customer service you're going to get. I was extremely pleased. The figures in this set are fantastic, the terrain assembled in minutes and the battlemat is very high quality and worth saving. If I had to come up with a negative its that once you get your friends hooked on the game with this box set they're going to want to start playing the full version before you're done gamin so make sure you have more of Buer's fantastic minis on hand for them!
Arrived in a good amount of time. Handful of minis, cloth playmat and a small piece of terrain make this set worth the price. Also has step by step instructions for learning to play that add mor elements as you go through them.
Great starter to get in 1490 Doom, which is already a great skirmish game. If you're thinking about getting into the game this is the way to go. Also check out their upcoming game: Pilgrim: The Haunted Frontier.

The game is a great idea and I'm happy to support it, but the box is extremely expensive for the low value of its contents, there are numerous errors in the pamphlet and cards, the paper material feels like cheep printouts, the game mat has a jagged edge, and overall there's nowhere near enough stuff in it to justify its price.
the scenarios don't feel playtested and didn't work very well.
miniatures were decent quality, decent prints, and the mdf terrain was fine. but again nowhere near 70 bucks' worth.
overall i'm quite disappointed with the value for money but i will probably continue to play the game with my own fixes and ideas i can find on discord.
miniatures: 4 stars, everything else: 1 star. average: 2 stars.

Great game! Print quantity was outstanding!
The starter set was not a good value. While the sculpts are good and scaffolding fun, the included cloth being not the correct size for a full game was a real disappointment as it is now not really useful for much. The scenario book did do a good job teaching the game but there is not enough meat on the bones to last more that 30 minutes to an hour. The rafts the 3d prints came attached to made the process of removing them tricky and I felt like I was going to break key pieces. I also would have rather received two more models for 1490 doom so I could have 2 complete forces instead of the Pilgrim preview models. If I hadn't also gotten the pdf because I bought from buer, I would have felt even worse about my purchase. As it is, I'm fairly disappointed.

I have a pretty big game collection going back to the golden years of GW. I am a huge fan of starter sets. Starter sets don’t have to be big, or have a huge model count. What they should have is enough to immerse you in the world you are playing in, with the right amount of models, playing area or terrain, and rules. The fact that The Outpost of Meerbridge manages to do this in such a small package is amazing. I love the theme, and really looking forward to diving more into the game. Great work guys!
